Thank you!

P1030551

This is my last post for the month of March. Thank you for signing me on and all the encouragement. Got back from Kotagiri two hours ago. We’ve had a busy day but the place, as you can see, is beautiful. The piece below has been made a short while back and brings the count to 40. I hope you will excuse the brief entry but I cant keep my eyes open!

Kotagiri

There’s a flight to catch and the wake up time tomorrow morning is 4am! We fly down to Coimbatore and drive to Kotagiri and then in reverse to get us back to Bangalore between 9 & 10 tomorrow night. Keeping my fingers crossed that I’m back in time to make my last post.

Long way home

Due to a mishap on the runway our flight, along with many many others, was rerouted to Chennai last night. Arrived in Bangalore at 4:30am instead of 10:30pm. Two of the pen & inks are from yesterday while waiting at different airports and the third one was finished a short while ago.

10 more in 4 days!

Copy a Master

Two more Van Gogh copies. Found it difficult to copy these two pieces digitally. The one below was more difficult of the two.

Planning some starts

shadow block ins

I’ll be travelling until the beginning of May starting the day after tomorrow. Life is filled with shopping and getting things together for a long trip. These are 3 quick block ins meant to demarcate the shadow and light areas. I think I got it best in no. 3 – the feather duster seller.

Singing Lessons

Harmonium

Forgot to mention that I signed up and started singing lessons a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday morning I had my 4th lesson. I’m away until May and didnt want to postpone and lose the teacher. It’s lovely as she comes over for the lessons. A friend has loaned me a harmonium till I’m ready to get my own. March is turning out to be fun.

Still under pressure to complete the 40 pieces. I will move on to drawings in the next day or so but here’s another one and doubles up also for the Wetcanvas! Van Gogh MOM. Hope I havent put everyone to sleep with a 3+ weeks of portraits.

A copy of another painting of Van Goghs titled “Portrait of Patience Escalier” Arles, 1888. Loved the colours he’s used in this piece. The old man in the original is much more gaunt and the colours very different. I spent more than two hours on this and decided to call it a day.

Spending much more time on these than was my intention. Still on 24 and just a few more days to go :(

Never in half measures

Copy a Master

Looks like I like jumping in feet first and worrying about whether I’ll sink or swim is forgotten. :D Signed up for many activities in March. And it’s keeping my mind busy more than my hands! The MOM project (wetcanvas) of painting Van Gogh’s work has been extended to the end of March. I’m thinking of working on the piece I’d selected in acrylics instead of oil. Tried copying two others from his earlier work tonight. It’s 1am and way past my bed time!

Two – knife and brush

Ticket Seller

It’s my first attempt at making a full piece with just palette knives. I couldn’t control it well for the finer details. It’s difficult to figure out the subject.

Ticket Seller

I’m keeping this brush attempt start like and marking it as KMP 14/100. Too many hard edges in this piece.

Which do you like?
