Last day!

birdbowl1.jpgHere is the bowl I threw the other day. I carved 2 swallows on to it.So this is my last post. The month went by really really fast! I wish I had more time to do things and had been able to show more finished stuff. My last carved bowl went in for it’s final firing today. Let me know if you’d like to see it when it’s done. Thanks everyone for your comments. -Audra

bowl? mug?

0429081426.jpgI had a good throwing day today. I did about 4 of these, I’m not sure if I’m going to make handles for them or make them more like hot chocolate bowls. It’s been wet here in NY, so things are taking a long time to dry.

bowls

bowl1.jpgon the left…bowl gone wrong. About 4lbs of clay. It kinda got away from me. I pushed it too far, it got too thing and got wobbly. The nice thing about clay, is you just start over if things dont go right. So on the right, is the same 4lbs of clay, thrown into a much better bowl.

bowl n mug

ok, I have not fallen off the face of the earth. I went away for a triathlon this weekend, came home last night, and fell asleep at 9pm.So here are some things:mug.jpgHere is one of my mugs fresh outa the kiln. There are 4 of them, yet right now, there are only 3. One is lingering somewhere, maybe still in the kiln. Once I have all 4 of them together, i’ll glaze them.

Bowl

flowerbowl.jpgI really hope you get to see this whole thing finished. I threw this last week. Today< i trimmed the bottom and carved out a floral pattern on it in relief. So I carved out the whole back ground. It took about 3 hours. I started to paint slip, which is a clay based paint on the flowers. Tomorrow I will finish that. Then it will dry a bit more and go for the first firing. After that, it will be glazed and fired again. I’m excited to see how it turns out.
